Deadpool in Comic Books
Deadpool is a relatively new comic book character, first appearing in The New Mutants #98, in February 1991. His powers include a powerful regenerating ability and physical prowess, though much of that comes from his training in the special forces. He has a very anti-heroic personality, killing his enemies without worry or concern, and barely cares about collateral damage, including the deaths of citizens. He's known as the merc with a mouth, since he's talking constantly, including insults and jokes about everything and anything. One of his most famous attributes is his fourth-wall breaking tendencies – in other words, he knows he's a character in a comic book, and takes advantage of the fact, talking back to the narration, making fun of comic book tropes, and playing with the format.
Throughout his history, Wade Wilson has goofed his way
through hundreds of issues, breaking fourth walls and villains faces at the
same rate. His healing abilities keep him in fighting form, and his
wise-cracking personality make sure he is memorable to all of his friends and
enemies. He placed number 31 in IGN's top 100 comic book heroes list, and is
also known for his multiple alternate universes and crossover events.
Deadpool in X-Men:Origins
However, this wasn't Deadpool's first appearance in a Marvel movie. People don't have lots of great things to say about the first performance, which was in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The movie explored how Wolverine got his adamantium claws, and how he began his life as a hero and a vigilante, and one of the characters included was Deadpool – played by the same actor, Ryan Reynolds. However, grievous mistakes happened with the fan-favorite character, who is sometimes known as the mercenary with a mouth – he does not appear in his classic black and red outfit, he has long swords grafted onto his hands, and, worst of all, his mouth is welded shut to stop his talking, which annoys the main villain throughout the movie with his constant talking.
Reaction to this choice was
highly negative. From such a unique and memorable character – Deadpool often
broke the fourth wall by talking to the reader or discussing comic tropes – the
film presented a boring and forgettable villain for Wolverine to fight.
However, thankfully, the Deadpool movie corrected these problems, and made tons
of cash in the meantime: it earned 373.1 million dollar box office, on only a
150 million dollar budget.
Deadpool is...he's an interesting one. He isn't your normal Marvel superhero, that's for sure. He's got a costume covered in classic colors of red and black, a few weapons, and a cool mask, but that's where the normalcy ends.
In the Deadpool movie, Wade Wilson is a dishonorably discharged special forces operative who meets and falls in love with Vanessa, a prostitute, but Wade discovers he has cancer and he leaves her without warning so she doesn't have to watch him die. A strange man named Ajax tells him he has a cure, and injects him with a serum designed to awaken mutant genes. After subjecting Wade to days of torture and stress without results. Then, after Wade insults Ajax's real name – which is Francis – he is left in a hyperbolic chamber for a week, which finally awakens his superhuman healing ability, which cures his cancer but leaves him covered in unsightly burns.
Wade seeks out Vanessa, as well as Ajax to find a cure for
his appearance. He adopts the name Deadpool, since Ajax picked him from a “Dead
Pool,” and joins with Colossus, a member of the X-Men to hunt him down. Ajax
ends up kidnapping Vanessa, and Deadpool, Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage
Warhead, Colossus's protege, track him down and begin the battle. Deadpool
kills Ajax, and Vanessa reconciles with him.
