What is Assassin's Creed?
If you are a video game enthusiast who has seen a hooded figure run and jump across rooftops assassinating his/her targets with careful stealth and powerful tools, then you already know that we are talking about Assassin's Creed!
One of Ubisoft's most popular titles, Assassin's Creed has managed to capture the hearts and interests of millions across the world ever since debuting in 2007. This action-adventure stealth game incorporates historical events with a bit of a futuristic twist and has players control the main character of each game in an attempt to deal with the Knights Templar group who are the villains of the games.
Consisting of over ten games and numerous spin-offs, Assassin's Creed was also adopted into a
movie in 2016, and generally continues to receive healthy support from both,
the developers and the fan base. Although
it's very difficult for fans to say which game is considered to be the best
one, it appears that most can agree that the older ones, particularly, Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II, are the best in the
franchise. Of course, that doesn't mean that some of the other titles are bad.
Some might prefer Assassin's Creed IV
Black Flag to the other titles, or perhaps Assassin's Creed Unity based on the plot and storyline.

Assassin's Creed: Movie
Although Assassin's Creed primarily focuses on video games, we did say earlier that the franchise was adopted into a movie in 2016. Simply called Assassin's Creed, the French-American action film was written by Michael Lesslie, Adam Cooper, and Bill Collage, and directed by Justin Kurzel.
The movie is set in the same universe as the video game series, but features an original story that takes place during the Spanish Inquisition. The plot is quite interesting: the Knights Templar want to get their hands on the Apple of Eden in order to use its code to control humanity's free will. The main character, Cal, must find out what happened to the Apple and take advantage of his Assassin's Creed to protect the Apple from the Templar forces.
did offer something unique, especially since it was the first movie in the
franchise, but received mixed reviews reviews. The film received an 18%
approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 5.8 out of 10 on IMDb. It did however
manage to generate $240 million in ticket sales against its $125 million
budget, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film lost $70-$100 million
when factoring in all revenues and expenses.
This is not meant to say that the movie is bad, however. Any Assassin's Creed fan is certain to enjoy
the movie, including its story and similarities to the video games!
