We are please to have another Wholesale Halloween Costumes Scholarship winner. In our summer scholarship content we decided to have a little bit of fun with Twitter. The challenge was to write a story using exactly 100 characters.
The response was overwhelming and there are a lot of creative college students out there. The hardest part wasn’t necessarily coming up with an idea but fitting it into the exact character length. Unfortunately there were a lot of 99 character fails
But of the amazing 100 character submissions we unanimously choose Rachaya Hopitakkul, a Biology major from the University of Texas, Austin. We loved her winning tweet because it told a visual story and the pun was clever.

We asked Rachaya about her inspiration for this contest and here is what she had to say:
My entry for this project was inspired by an event I went to recently. As I thought about it, I became more aware that it was very much a “punny” situation. I couldn’t resist not telling it. I used to be an avid writer of short stories a few years ago, but I didn’t have the chance to continue writing due to time. This scholarship gave me quite a challenge to get the creative juices to flow again! I love telling jokes and it makes me incredibly happy when I’m able to make people laugh. I’m majoring in Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. After I graduate, I would want to travel the world helping people combat disease and illnesses.
There were so many good tweets that we decided to award a few honorable mentions, below.
Our next Scholarship will be a repeat of last year’s very exciting Pumpkin Carving Contest. If you are a college student looking for extra money for school expenses, give your pumpking carving skills a try. You just might win $500!
