This Halloween, be prepared for the swarms of candy hunting children wandering along the darkened streets and up to each house in search of treats!

Set the scene for that stopping zone on your porch with a themed selection of props. Family friendly or totally terrifying, here are a few ideas to inspire you.

Keep it simple with a limited color palette. There are obvious color choices on Halloween from which to choose- orange, black, purple, green, white, and red. Mix and match decorations from 3 color categories to pull the look together. Ghosts and Jack-O-Lantern decorations are always fun and festive.

Trick-or-treaters will need to safe guard their souls if they want to get candy on this porch full of skeletons and reapers.

Not ready to be the neighborhood soul collector? Pick a theme and create a scene inspired by the haunts and thrillers from the silver screen. We’ve got zombies, vampires, witches, and serial killers so choosing the cast won’t be a problem.

Crank up the gore with props from the butcher shop.

How about a ladies night for the scream queens?

Even if you don’t have a big porch, door greeters are a BIG way to make a lasting impression on your Halloween visitors. You can even choose from some familiar faces like Pennywise, Beetlejuice and Regan to welcome the intrepid trick-or-treaters.

Make sure your guests know they are being watched and hang a creepy peeper in your window.

No porch at all? Get crafty and turn your door into a monster. These were made with plastic table covers, paper plates,  and paper streamers. Use fake web and a spider prop to turn your door into the latest victim.
