It’s that time of year when we all sorta slow down and this species of slow-pokes has become our new spirit animal. The pace of sloth might be 100% relatable during the winter months but we promise this DIY Sloth Hoodie will come together quicker than the actual animal moves, which by the way is only 13 ft per minute. These furry mammals are usually found hanging upside down in South and Central America but you can recreate the look wherever you live following our free template and step by step photos. Furry felt in neutral tones can create the cute features of these round headed, three-toed animals of the rain forest. Perfect for curling up on the couch with a mug of hot cocoa.
Follow our tips on which adhesive materials to use and create one of these tree-dwellers at your own pace! If a sloth just isn’t your spirit animal then maybe another animal costume will line up with your inner creature.
This no-sew hoodie was created by and photographed Tara from Spot of Tea Designs. Swing on over to her blog for a peek, when you get to it, of course.

Cut out all the shapes from the template. Cut all the shapes from the coordinating colors of felt. If needed, trace these shapes using an air erase marker or chalk.
Layer the smaller pieces of the sloth’s face and attach them using hot glue.
Adhere the grey felt oval shape inside the sleeves using hot glue. This will help provide a little more of a base for the white toes. Adhere the white toes over the sleeve, overlapping on this grey shape.
You can continue to use hot glue to attach the hoodie, but sometimes hot glue seeps through and can be seen on the front side. Instead, consider attaching the larger face shape to the hoodie using a Heat n’ Bond adhesion material and an iron.
After cooling, your DIY Sloth Hoodie is ready to rock while climbing a tree, walking at a snail’s pace or taking a cozy nap.
