DIY Dragon Wings and Tail Tutorial

There’s one mythical creature that soars above all the others. We’re talking about dragons. Even though it seems that most princesses need to be saved from a dragon, we think the magical beings are just misunderstood. Look at the dragon from Shrek or Toothless and friends from How To Train Your Dragon. Daenerys Targaryen aka the Mother of Dragons, also wouldn’t take lightly to thinking that all dragons are bad. These are all dragon characters worth having on your side.

So when given the choice to dress up as a fairytale character, don’t go straight for the princess or knight costumes. A dragon is way cooler.

If you want to step your dragon hoodie game up a notch without a big budget consider DIYing a set of removable dragon wings and tail! Use our free printable template and step by step instructions to create these no-sew accessories for your legendary creature!

This DIY was created, shot and written by Tara at Spot of Tea Designs. Head over to her blog to get your fill of fantastic ideas!

Use safety pins to attach elastic strips on the inside of the wings. This will allow the user to easily strap the wings on to wear. Make sure to insert the spike through the hole when worn.

Cut three slits on one of the tail pieces where you will insert the spikes.

Adhere the three spike pieces together, leaving the bottom ½ an inch open and not glued together.
